Southpoint Bank | Homewood

Project Details

SouthPoint Bank’s new branch office is part of a larger redevelopment in downtown Homewood that replaces a worn-out strip mall with a denser, multi-parcel development. The site is narrow but highly visible from Homewood’s main street making the building’s placement critical. By siting the drive through and parking on the side of the building, we prioritized a front entry that engages the urban landscape with a bluestone plaza and green space.

The design builds on the language of the bank’s recently completed headquarters, adapting it to the surrounding urban scale. A tower element at the entry references the headquarters while also anchoring the building within the city block. From the sidewalk, a large front window frames the double-height entry space and draws attention to a sculptural white oak staircase that connects the branch office and commercial banking functions.

The interior emphasizes warmth and transparency, using wood-trimmed openings and glass entrances throughout. While primarily an office, the building was also designed to host events and entertain clients—adding a layer of neighborly engagement to a traditionally corporate program.
