Woodlawn Theatre + Mason Music

Will Mason brought this project to us with the idea of revitalizing the original location of Woodlawn Theatre into a venue for local artists, as well as those aspiring musicians learning at Mason Music. The roots of the Woodlawn Family Theatre stretch back to a neighborhood cinema that operated from 1929 to 1957.

Construction got underway in early 2022 to create the new Woodlawn Theatre with art deco and mid century design contrasted with a moody rock and roll club. By working alongside Devote Studio as they developed the branding for the Theatre, we were able to provide an Interior Design that supported the vision that Will had created for the space.

The project received the 2025 Mayor’s Choice Award from the Birmingham Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
